Bibliographic Information
The bibliographic information (or reference) service helps you to carry out a targeted bibliographic search using the tools available in the library, primarily the catalogues.
You will be helped to navigate the shelves, to build search strategies on databases, to refine information paths on online catalogues, optimizing your time and making the most of our resources.
Upon request, the library staff will assist you in "navigating" the material, using the computer stations in the reading room to source what you need, especially during the drafting of your thesis.
BIBLIOLAB (Laboratory for basic information skills)
Available on DIR-UPO (access via University credentials).
Bibliolab aims to improve the skills of students and doctoral students regarding the use and evaluation of basic information sources. The project focuses on the concept of an information source and is structured on a path consisting of modules which, starting from the most general concepts, leads the student to acquire theoretical knowledge (what information sources are, how they are used, how they are produced , etc.) and practical skills (how do I find them, how do I proceed to do a search, how do I orient myself in the library, etc.). The course is transdisciplinary, designed for all students of the University.
At the end of each module there is a self-assessment test.
After the first 4 (compulsory) modules, the student can download and print a certificate of completion of the information skills basic course. Further certifications are provided at the end of module 5, module 6 and module 7.
