Publishing Open Access

Our University has signed some Transformative Agreements negotiated by CARE-CRUI, involving advance payment by the University, for Open Access publication. The UPO academic community can publish OA at no cost in the journals of these publishers:

The MDPI publishing house awards a 10% discount to our University on sums charged for publication.

Following the usual peer-review procedure and acceptance of the article, the corresponding author will receive an email with a link to the article management platform and then decide whether to publish or not in Open Access- If he/she decides to do so, no added costs will be incurred and the article will be immediately made public and free of charge. The Publishing licence will be a Creative Commons 4.0 CC-BY. The author retains copyright.

To discover other open access journals in which to publish, see the Directory of Open Access Journal (DOAJ)

Our University has adopted an Open Access Policy, in compliance with articles 2.4 and 23.4 of the Charter, which confirms that “The University embraces open access principles for scientific and academic literature fully, and promotes free circulation of research findings”.

Decisions by the Academic Board and Board of Trustees have led to the establishment of a University Commission for Open Access. To find out more, visit the University Library System page.
