This master's degree programme (two-year duration) was first activated in academic year 2020/2021. The course does not involve an admission test but is restricted to 35 freshers.

The master's degree course in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology aims to prepare highly qualified experts with skills in the scientific, technical-productive, organizational and therapeutic aspects essential in the multidisciplinary process that comprises the design, experimentation, characterisation, formulation, management, production, registration and post-marketing control of innovative biotech drugs, including medicinal products for advanced therapies.

With their in-depth chemical, biochemical, biomolecular and pharmacological preparation, graduates in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology will be able to understand, face and solve (by applying biotechnological techniques) the problems related to the design, planning, production and development of innovative drugs, both in the academic field and in the biopharmaceutical industry, as well as contributing to the supply of goods and services in the context of biotechnological development in the pharmaceutical, chemical and related fields.

Graduates in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology can cover roles of management and coordination in various fields of academic and industrial research in the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetic industries. They can also find employment in any company dealing with innovation in the biotechnological field (pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries; chemical industry and biotechnological services; scientific instrumentation companies for biotechnological applications; cosmetic, nutraceutical and food industries; diagnostic industry and laboratories; patent offices; drug, human health, veterinary and environmental supervisory bodies; national and international drug regulatory agencies; universities and public and private research bodies).
